-To adjust the chin piece, pull out the yellow tab and twist.  That will raise and lower the chin piece to better support the patient

-located in central supply

-Typically placed by ortho/neurosurgery and remains on during hospital stay

-should be on when the patient is out of bed

-Yanke will come measure the patient and custom mold the brace for the patient

-needs to be donned before sitting patient up at EOB

-used for more unstable fractures

-typically needs to be on if the patient is above 30 degrees

Jewett/Ace Brace

Jewett/Ace Brace

-is used to avoid flexion of the spine

-can be donned at EOB

To donn:

  • Position the chest places comfortably below the patient’s collar bone.  The lower pad, marked “Bottom-Front” should be just below the patients stomach

Wrap the free end of the strap around the back and feed it through the side-pad slot.  Feed the strap through the roller ring at the front of the brace. Pull th strap until you feel resistance from the seam, then Velcro securely so the strap is snug around the patient
